Electronic Business CardsTraditional paper business cards are
a time-honored and effective way to get business and contact
information out to current and prospective clients.
But these days, a lot of business is
done in e-mail. So how do you make sure that people know how to
reach you?
Try an Electronic Business Card (or
EBC), part of the Contacts feature in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
An EBC is simple to create and you
can easily give it professional polish or personal style by adding
your company logo or a picture of yourself. And when you use an EBC
as part of your e-mail signature, customers and friends will see it
in a format that looks good and is easy for them to save.
Watch the demo to see how easy it is to create, customize, and
share an Electronic Business Card.

Green IT
Makeover update
Clean
Wisconsin, an environmental advocacy organization in
Madison, was proclaimed the winner of Applied Tech’s
Green IT Makeover Contest in November 2008. Clean
Wisconsin received over $25,000 in green-friendly
products and services including a new server and LCD
monitors. In addition, Applied Tech was able to remove
395 pounds of electronic waste from their office and
have it professionally recycled by File 13 of Verona.
“Partnering
with Applied Tech and File 13 has been a pleasure. These
local businesses who share Clean Wisconsin’s vision to
“walk the talk” by utilizing responsible business
practices - in this case electronic waste recycling -
clearly shows that by working together all industries
can make a positive impact on a rapidly growing
environmental issue.”

Cool
Computer Tools to Make Your Life a Little Easier
presented by Applied Tech
Here's a cool
computer tool we'd like you to know about because it can
save you time and money: PDF995 is simple to use FREE
software that converts documents to PDF (Portable
Document File) format.
What is PDF
format? "PDF is a file format that captures all the
elements of a printed document as an electronic image
that you can view, navigate, print. . . or
forward to someone else regardless, of the computer. . .
program it was first created in." (Source: UCL Learning
Technology, London, England).
Why is it
important? Suppose you're sending an e-mail and you want
to share a certain file or document. Your recipient
might not be able to open your attachment unless they're
using the same version of the program you used to create
it in.
PDF format
allows them to open it. It also prevents other people
from making changes to your original document.
How do I
create PDF files? PDF files are created using Adobe
Acrobat Capture, or similar products such as PDF995. You
can download it from
http://www.pdf995.com/download.html.
You can also
download complete documentation for converting PDFs
using this cool tool from the resources on our website.
Finally, to
view and use the files, you'll need the FREE Acrobat
Reader, which can be easily downloaded from
www.adobe.com. Once you've downloaded the
Reader, it will start automatically whenever you want to
look at a PDF file. |
