Big Bucks
by Heather Clancy
reprinted with permission from the Microsoft Small Business
Center

Skeptics
suggest an economic crisis will stall sustainable business
practices. They cling to the myth that going green costs
more money. But many small businesses are discovering green
habits save big money, especially when it comes to
information technology.
The savings are many: Reduced power consumption, IT
maintenance and hardware procurement costs. This can lead to
increased productivity. You say your technology strategy
isn't sophisticated? No worries.
Here are five ways you can
make it greener and budget friendly.

Understand
the benefits and drawbacks of different software options and the
technologies available for virtualization. This seminar will provide
the answers to many of the virtualization questions swirling in
server, workstation and storage virtualization today.
During
this free half-day event you will hear how virtualization has
progressed to be one of the most significant technology advancements
in IT environments today. You will learn how a fully virtualized
infrastructure can deliver cost-savings, flexibility, ease data
migration, and enable consolidation.
What is
Virtualization?
Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than
actual) version of something, such as an operating
system, a server, workstation, a storage device or
network resources. |
Topics include:
-
Introduction to Virtualization: It’s not just for
big businesses
-
Virtualization Products/Major Players
-
Virtualization Technologies – Server, Desktops,
Storage
- The
Road to Virtualization – Planning and Managing
-
Reduction of costs: Including power and cooling,
licensing costs, and labor

Survey
Winner Is. . .
Congratulations to Kari Acker from Beacon
Athletics for being the August 2009 winner
of a $50 gift card good at any of the Food Fight
restaurants! Kari completed the satisfaction
survey after her help desk issue was closed. As
a result, Kari was automatically entered to win
a gift card from Applied Tech and randomly
chosen as the winner. Who is going to be this
month's winner? It could be you. . . (just be
sure to complete the emailed survey once your
help desk case is closed. It's that easy!)
