Telecommuting Work

Making Telecommuting
Work for your Business
Telecommuting
has gotten a bad rap. Some say that employees can't be serious about
their careers if they'd rather work from home. Others insist that
work groups fall apart if team members aren't physically in the
office.
But the bad rap may not
hold: The International Telework Association & Council (ITAC)
reports that the number of workers who telecommute at least some of
the time (the preferred term today for many is the less-U.S.-centric
"telework") tops 23 million, a number that continues to grow.
While telecommuting is
not for everyone, there is no question in my mind that in today's
Internet Age, most workers expect to be able to do it at least part
of each week or month. So, as a small-business owner who seeks to
recruit and retain good employees, you'd do well to be flexible
enough to allow telecommuting whenever possible.
Even if you prefer your
staffers not do it full-time, it should be an option for
circumstances such as these:

Sometimes You Need A Pro
Buying and installing a new server
 |
So, you're going to run
to your favorite PC store and slap in a new server? Unless you are a
certified IT person, allow us to politely offer this piece of
advice:
"No slapping without a
professional, please."In past issues of Dynamic's
Newsletter we have offered advice on when to upgrade
your server.
This time we focus on avoiding the big mistakes once you do. There
are decisions to be made about hardware, software, network
connections and, perhaps, most important of all, whom to entrust
with getting it up and on its feet.
|
Make the right choice,
and your new server will be running smoothly from the first day. Make the
wrong choice and it won't. Committed "do-it-yourselfers", who
pride themselves in being "do-it-yourselfers", are inevitably the
most likely to end up calling in the cavalry.

Technology Solution
Wish List Suggestions
|
This time of the year many
businesses are working hard to develop their budget or technology
“wish list” for the coming year. I have spoken with many businesses
over the last couple of months and have compiled a common list of
technologies solutions that are being budgeted for 2008. Take a look
at the list and consider whether you may have overlooked any of
these items. |

Microsoft Licensing
– How is your license count? Are you up to date? One of the primary
licenses that need to be updated at most businesses is your Office
Suite. When considering purchasing Office licenses think about
purchasing open licenses as opposed to the license (OEM) that can be
purchased with a new PC. There are several advantages to purchasing
an open license such as the ability to move the license to another
PC in the event the original system is retired, the ability to
purchase upgrade protection for two years on open licenses, and
Microsoft offers cash back or service credits with
Dynamic
as an incentive.

Custom BizSaver II
Many small businesses
want specific calling features on their business
lines and are unaware of the pricing advantage that
ATT packages offer. Custom BizSaver II is one of the
most popular packages among
Dynamic clients. The
service can be used with flat or hunting lines and
is available with a 12, 24 or 36 month contract. The
discount is greatest with the 36 month contract, but
all term lengths offer significant savings over
non-package rates.
This service allows the
customer to have caller ID on all lines and 4
additional features on the main number. Some of the
most popular features are: call forwarding – allows
you to forward your calls from your business to
another phone number; 3-way calling – lets you
bridge two calls together so you can talk to both
parties at the same time; remote access to call
forwarding – lets you activate, deactivate, or
change the number to which you forward your
calls--without being at your business phone; and
call waiting – a tone alerts you to a second
incoming call. The other features available include
call waiting ID, speed calling 30, call return, auto
redial and call blocker.
If you would like
Dynamic to prepare a comparison between your present
service and Custom BizSaver II, call Kathy
Payne at 785-354-7000 ext. 233 .
