Junior Achievement of Kansas. It is the world's
largest and fastest-growing non-profit economic
education organization. Its programs are taught by

U.S. and more than 100 countries worldwide. Their
purpose is to educate and inspire young people to
value free enterprise, business, and economics to
improve the quality of their lives.
The Jeans for Cash Campaign is funded by the

who choose to wear jeans on Fridays and make a donation
of $5.00 to the selected Non-Profit of the month.

It Means For Your Business
reprinted with permission from HP

When the going
gets tough, the tough have a smart game plan. And with over
2 million jobs lost in 2008, the situation is definitely
getting tough.
Fortunately, the US has relieved our 26
million small businesses—those which gross $15 million or
less in profits annually[1]–in more ways than one with its
2009
Recovery Plan.
The new plan
not only gives small businesses tax breaks and credits, it
also plans to give your customers more money by providing
them jobs. In the meantime, though, one of the best ways you
can take advantage of the plan is by carefully investing in
the future with updated technology and energy
efficient solutions.
Even for larger
businesses that don’t directly benefit from the recovery
plan, making these types of changes while business is slower
can prepare you for when the economy picks up.
The
government’s plan
This plan provides you with a myriad of opportunities to
help your business.

imaginable.
That's where
technology can step in-not only providing essential
information, planning and other tools but, in effect,
teaching small business owners critical skills that can last
a lifetime.

Tax Tips from Cummins & Coffman CPA's PA and Dynamic Computer
Solutions of Topeka
Take
advantage of Tax Incentives for Equipment Purchased and
installed in 2009.
The Section 179 Deduction is a
tax incentive to encourage businesses to buy equipment. This
section of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full
purchase price of qualifying new or used equipment purchased or
financed during the tax year. The current law allows this write
off on the first $250,000 of new or used property purchased
and installed before December 31st, 2009.This means if
you buy a piece of qualifying equipment, you can deduct the
entire cost of the equipment in the year purchased rather than
over a period of five or more years.
This immediate write off of the
cost of the new equipment means a larger tax depreciation
deduction and tax savings for your business. Generally,
qualifying equipment is tangible personal property including
computer hardware and software, as well as printers, copiers and
furniture used in a trade or business. This is another
opportunity to purchase computer hardware and software at a
smaller net cost. If you have been thinking about upgrading but
have been postponing it, this would be the right time to do
so. . . Call and let us assist you with your upgrades or replacement
equipment and software. Consult your tax advisor for a complete
listing of qualifying equipment.
There are two limits to the
Section 179 expensing rules: (1) the amount expensed is limited
to the taxpayer’s reported taxable income (before the Section
179 deduction) and (2) if the taxpayer purchases more than
$800,000 of 2009 personal property the $250,000 limit is
reduced.
Another tax incentive available
for businesses is First Year Bonus Depreciation which allows the
taxpayer to write off 50% of the purchase price of the asset in
the year of acquisition. An asset is eligible for first year
bonus depreciation if its original use commences with the
taxpayer. Therefore, this incentive is only available for the
purchase of “new” assets.
Don’t miss this unique
opportunity to save thousands on assets purchased and installed
in 2009.
