SECRETARY NAPOLITANO ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF THE 2012 RICK RESCORLA NATIONAL AWARD FOR RESILIENCE

WASHINGTON— Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today announced that Jane Cage, Chair of the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team (CART) in Joplin, Mo., and the citizens of Joplin have been awarded the Rick Rescorla National Award for Resilience, recognizing their contributions in the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that struck Joplin in May 2011.

“The Rick Rescorla National Award for Resilience recognizes outstanding response to a catastrophic incident and leadership in fostering resilient and prepared communities," said Secretary Napolitano. “Jane Cage and the Joplin community demonstrate this spirit of resilience and strength, serving as models for communities across our nation.”

We would like to congratulate our own Jane Cage, HTS COO/CFO, for her induction into the CompTIA IT Hall of Fame as a founding member of Ingram Micro’s VentureTech Network! Jane, along with our friends Ted Warner (Connecting Point, Greeley, CO) and Steve Harper (NMGI, Hutchinson, KS) worked together to form the IT reseller community group nearly 20 years ago. VTN has since grown to hundreds of reseller members from across the US and Canada. Jane and the other Hall of Fame inductees will be honored on April 11^th at the CompTIA Annual Member Meeting in Chicago.

Joplin, MO, Feb. 20, 2012 – Heartland Technology Solutions today announced it has been recognized as an esteemed HP Partner in Excellence for Global Philanthropy at the 2012 HP Global Partner Conference (GPC) in Las Vegas.

Many of you know that HTS has several locations – not all of you may know that one of our locations is in Joplin, Missouri. As the HTS COO/CFO, I’ve been at this office for 26 years and lived in Joplin since 1978. Since the tornado on Sunday evening, our city and our office have become a center of chaotic activity. We are so fortunate that our office was spared and employees and their homes were unharmed. However, we’ve had many extended family members and friends whose homes were totally destroyed. The tornado cut a swath that crossed the entire city up to ¾ of a mile wide.
