Cass County, Nebraska, City of Plattsmouth
Who is the customer?

Overview of Solution
HTS converged the IT departments of the City of Plattsmouth and Cass County Nebraska to provide better service for the employees of both, and cost savings for the citizens of the city and county.
Customer Pain
The city of Plattsmouth was looking for a means to increase productivity while lowering their total cost of ownership of their network. Cass County was looking for a means to develop a partnership with the city providing with both a deeper relationship and increased savings and productivity.
Assessment
In 2006, HTS began discussing the possibility of combining the IT departments of the City of Plattsmouth and Cass County. Cass County has a Staff IT director, while Plattsmouth contracted their work out to a local vendor.
Vision and Solution
In order for this solution to work, there would need to be some means of daily monitoring of the systems at the city. There would also need to be immediate access to support personnel. The total annual cost of this solution would also need to be at or below the current expenditure of the city.
After evaluating the current situation at both the city and county, the City and County officials in conjunction with HTS staff, developed a Managed Service offering that would meet all the criteria needed. HTS and Cass County now work to maintain and improve the network at the city, providing a more reliable and secure network. Downtime has decreased, while the network infrastructure has been improved.
Implementation
HTS did a full network assessment, and implemented a full array of Managed Service products to monitor and resolve issues remotely, while the Cass County IT department takes charge of any onsite maintenance that is needed. HTS provides our broad range of experience and expertise to assist in any additional projects.
Customer Impact
Both the City and the county are now able to pool resources, both technical and financial to provide a more stable and productive network environment and the peace of mind in knowing that they have a solid backup and recovery plan in place.
