What do they say?
“With the new server implemented, we have noticed a huge performance increase from our internal team and site superintendents.”
-Dirk Westercamp, President - Woodruff Design
Customer Pain
As they have grown, Woodruff has more employees working on construction sites spread across the Midwest with a need to access company information. Most of this information was simple files, but was needed by site superintendents in order to make important decisions. In the past, phone calls to the corporate office were made, causing internal resources to stop what they were doing to look up the information. With the growth they have experienced, this system was limiting the production of both teams and causing decisions to be delayed on site.
Assessment
From the long relationship that HTS has developed with Woodruff, it was known that there would be issues when the growth of the company hit a certain level. Dirk Westercamp, President of Woodruff Design, contacted the HTS team to discuss what steps could be taken. A meeting was held with the Woodruff executive team and site superintendents to review existing processes and what issues needed to be resolved.
Solution
HTS presented a solution of implementing an HP ProLiant server running Microsoft Server 2008 as a Terminal Server. This would allow the mobile workforce to remotely access the files needed and the company’s data and software quickly and easily from anywhere, without having to contact the internal team for assistance.
Implementation
The HTS team configured the server at the corporate office to allow mobile employees the ability to remotely log in from a secure notebook. The roll out was scheduled to occur slowly, over a few months to allow the limited resources within Woodruff the time to train and support the remote users.
Customer Impact
Information can be accessed by the remote users more quickly and more easily than ever before. This allows the site superintendents the ability to make quicker, more accurate decisions in order to save the company and its clients time and money.
